Japanese Singer Yu Shirota to Debut TOKYO〜the city of music and love〜In Singapore This June

A star-studded roster of Japanese artists and singers will be bringing the energy and excitement of Tokyo to Singapore this June for Yu Shirota’s musical variety show TOKYO〜the city of music and love〜.
The Hana-Kimi actor’s latest work is a testament to his diverse talents, with the multi-hyphenate starring, producing, and directing the show, which will be in Singapore for one night only on 22 June 2024 at the Esplanade Theatre. Tickets start from $58, and is now available online at SISTIC.
The feel-good show first debuted in Tokyo earlier this year, and dazzled fans with lots of dance, music and celebration. So what can you expect from the show’s first overseas debut show in Singapore?
Yu Shirota shares that the “exciting new show is a fusion of diverse musical genres and dance, featuring some of the region’s most gifted performers and artists. Along with dynamic staging, choreography and costumes, audiences can expect to be wowed as we showcase the iconic places and landscapes which embody the vibrant energy that is synonymous with Tokyo and its embrace of worldwide cultures.”
The songs spans genres, from Broadway hits to Jpop beats and even Disney classics. Kahori Kanaya, famed for her spectacular theme park shows, will be co-directing the show with Yu, while Japanese R&B singer SWEEP will be directing the music.
The Singapore show will also see two special guest appearances, none other than the home-grown crooner Nathan Hartono and J-pop princess miwa. J-pop fans can also look forward to seeing RIOSKE (PeruPines), yuzu (FYURA PROJECT), and rising songstress, Rainy。plus, a troupe of dynamic dancers, including Kaoru Harada, Shunsuke Omura (SHUN), Nao Usui, BOXER and Tuki Takamura sharing the same stage.
