Japan Rail Café Offers Authentic Japanese Bento Sets to Enjoy in the Comfort of your Home

Japan Rail Café is now offering takeaway and delivery services, featuring an appetising line-up of five appetizing bento sets that are simply oishii!

A treat for Japanese food lovers, the takeaway menu offers authentic Japanese cafe-style Watashino Bento Sets that come with a choice of drink — Original Drip Coffee, Cold Brew Coffee, Citrus Green Tea or Aomori Apple Juice. Other drinks are also available at an additional S$1.50. Customers can choose from the following set options, priced at S$15 each.

The Bento features a trio of handmade Omusubi — triangular shaped Japanese rice wrapped in nori, filled with deep-fried tempura shrimp, salmon flakes and a monthly special ingredient — served with a side of teriyaki saba fish and tamago for a wholesome meal.

Available only for the month of May, the Gunma Torimeshi Bento comes with a generous serving of grilled shoyu-marinated chicken and cubed tamago. This dish is a staple that is commonly enjoyed as an Ekiben (train bento) in Gunma prefecture.

Served with Japanese rice, crispy chicken cutlet and fried egg, the Watashino Curry Bento is served with curry that is made with a special combination of spices, and a surprise addition of black pepper. The Watashino Hayashi Bento comes with a thick demi-glace sauce that is a reduction of red wine and tomato puree, then finished with a generous serving of minced beef for added texture. Offering the best of both, the Hafu Hafu Bento is a must-try that is served with half portions each of curry and hayashi sauce!

In addition to bento sets, the menu also features a selection of a la carte drinks, perfect for a spot of afternoon tea. Coffee lovers can sip on new creations like Soy Latte (S$5.50) and Honey Latte (S$6). All coffees are brewed with a new blend of beans that offer a distinct earthy undertone that is deep and rich in flavour, specially selected by Cafe Manager, Mukaida.

Other beverages include Matcha Latte (S$6.20), Kuromitsu Kinako Latte (S$5.50) and Ogonnomura Yuzu and Honey (S$6.50).

Orders is available for takeaway from Mondays to Fridays, from 11am to 7pm (last order at 6:30pm), excluding Public Holidays via WhatsApp at +65 9826 3471 or at the café itself. Delivery is available on GrabFood  and FREE island wide delivery via Guoco Tower Food Delivery  is also offered for orders above S$50. Otherwise, orders are subjected to minimum order and delivery charges.
