Korea’s Popular Soju Brand JINRO Launches New Tonic Water For The Classic Soju Cocktail
CONTENT: Michelle Ng
The most popular spirit from Korea is enjoyed by many all over the world in its various forms, and while soju is traditionally consumed neat, the versatile sweet spirit can be easily mixed with beer or other drinks to make delicious soju cocktails.
One of the classic soju cocktails is just soju and tonic water. The new tonic water by JINRO adds a little sweet fizz to the strong soju, and can be garnished with a squeeze of lemon and ice as you see fit. Some people find the taste of pure soju too strong and flavoured soju too sweet, and the tonic water cocktail allows you to savour the natural sweetness of Chamisul Soju. You could almost compare it to a ginger ale cocktail, just without the gingery finish.
The cocktail is pretty easy to whip up, making it a convenient drink wherever you are. To create the perfect Classic JINRO and Tonic Cocktail, pour equal parts of soju and tonic water in a 1:1 ratio and stir well.
Another tip is to freeze the tonic water into ice cubes so that you can enjoy the icy cold cocktail without watering down your drink! The soju and tonic water cocktail is refreshing, and I prefer to have it over Korean BBQ or when eating spicy foods to cleanse my palate. For a citrusy twist, add in lime and mint leaves for an extra kick!
I also like how the soju and tonic cocktail is so versatile that you can add other ingredients you have lying around your kitchen to mix things up every once in a while. The JINRO Watermelon Soju Cocktail is yet another popular classic to share with friends over fried chicken. Just mix watermelon chunks with lime juice, and add honey. Use a blender to blend the whole mixture with ice, or just shake well and serve with ice. And if you’re a super exta party host like me, pour the Watermelon Soju Cocktail in the empty watermelon and serve with a little toothpick umbrella! Other ingredients you can add are pineapple chunks, apple or peach syrup.
The JINRO Tonic Water is available as a set together with the Chamisul Fresh Soju. The bundles start from $16.40 which comes with a bottle of Chamisul and two cans of tonic water. And if you are at your favourite K-bar, the tonic water will be available wherever Chamisul is carried!
The JINRO Chamisul Fresh Soju and Tonic Water Bundle is now available online and on Amber Nectar’s store on Shopee and Lazada. JINRO Chamisul Soju and Tonic Water is also available at select bars and restaurants islandwide including Pocha in a Forest, Chug Chug, Thirsty Horse Bar & Bistro, Magal, Mukjja, Tanjong Hwaro, and more.
