Given the recent resurgence in the gin market and the Spring season being just around the corner, the Suntory House has started to collaborate with several different restaurants, one of them being the Taki Izakaya Bar to showcase the floral flavours of its ever popular Roku Gin to all!
Known for it’s heavy floral flavours with a mild spicy aftertaste that lingers, the renowned Japanese Craft Roku Gin brings together six uniquely Japanese botanicals, where each individual characteristics of the six Japanese botanicals (Sakura flower, Sakura leaf, sencha tea, gyokuro tea, sansho pepper and yuzu) are slowly blended together in an intricate process to give a floral scent and multi-layered taste combined with a smooth texture to your evening tipple.
From now until 15 May 2021, Roku Gin has collaborated with Taki Izakaya Bar for a special pairing menu that highlights three specially curated cocktails paired up with intricately crafted dishes for a harmonious dance of flavours.
Created with the artistic intention to show the distinction and balance of day and night, The Spring Equinox (S$22.80) is a light cocktail that is made with blackcurrant jam, lemon juice and gin with a layer of egg white foam on top that subdues the harshness of the gin and making it an easy-to-drink tipple for ladies or office workers to take the edge off! The Hanami (S$16.80) consists of a simple combination of Kanpachi sashimi with Ponzu sauce and Sakura gel that pairs well with The Spring Equinox as the richness of the sashimi blends seamlessly with the sweetness of the cocktail! For an extra unami kick, dip the protein into the ponzo sauce for an unbelievable explosion of flavour on the palate!
Special Set Price: S$33.80
The Me & U (S$22.80) cocktail is a reinvention of a classic Negroni that is infused with Umeshu which produces a strong and intense cocktail for guests who prefer a stiff drink. The Kogane Matsuri (S$22.80) is grilled and smoked with applewood that masks the strong fishy taste of the protein and the rich chilli Ume sauce helps to add a mild citrus spice to the protein.
Special Set Price: S$38.80
The Sloe Dancing (S$22.80) is a fiery reinvention of a Bloody Mary on Steroids that definitely packs a fiery punch on the first sip but is then balanced out by the nuance notes of sakura blended into the cocktail. The Spring Garden (S$16.80) is the star dish of the tasting menu- with it’s wok hei infused rice lightly sautéed with Maitake mushrooms and carrots, this dish will make a wholesome meal for any guests who are famished and works as a healthy vegetarian option as well!
