YUNNANS’ Opens its Newest Outlet at ION Orchard with New Dishes and A Stunning Garden Interior!

Known for serving up authentic delicious dishes from Yunnan in China, the popular restaurant chain has opened its fourth outlet in Singapore at Ion Orchard to bring their unique dishes to more diners! The interior garden design took inspiration from the Ancient Tea Horse Road in where busy caravans used to traverse through the winding roads up the mountains of Szechuan, Yunnan and Tibet in Southwest China, everything from the tables and walls are designed to reflect the familiar patterns of the old trade routes. Taking pride in importing ingredients straight from Yunnan itself where most of its ingredients are grown 6,000 metres above sea level, kept free from pollution and hand harvested by locals. The best of these ingredients are fully utlised to their full potential in some of the new menu highlights at Yunnan’s newest outlet!

The Steam Pot Chicken Soup with Lily Bulb (S$32.90), was first launched for a limited time during Mother’s Day in 2021, hs returned as a mainstay on the menu. With the incoporation of mildly sweet Lanzhou lily bulbs, the nourishing soup serves as a great starter for any meal. Using a special breed of black chicken and fresh lily bulbs imported from Yunnan, they are pressure steamed for three hours that produces a crystal-clear broth that is sweet, nuturrious and good for the lungs and helps to calm the stomach and body for a good night’s sleep!

The Braised Fish Maw with Wild Porcini Mushroom (S$42.80- small S$52.80- big) uses wild porcini mushrooms harvested from the highlands of Yunnan braised with fresh fish maw, garlic, Chinese yam and Yunnan Qiubei Chillies over a long,slow flame, resulting in a mildly spicy fish maw that is perfectly cooked that is rich in collagen and a savoury sauce that goes well served over a bowl of rice..

A household stable in Yunnan, the Claypot Rice with Minced Beef and Crispy Red Beans (S$24.90) has been given a modern makeover by adding crispy red beans and beef (pork options are also available) for additional layers of textures and flavours! The rice is cooked with a special house-made sauce and Yunnan’s premium specialty ham with stir-fried minced beef/pork and vegetables, that come together for a highly savoury, fragant and irresistible dish when properly given a good mix and eaten together!

Pomelo Salad with Osmanthus Dressing

Other noteworthy dishes include the Steamed Cod with “Mei Cai (S$31.90), Hotplate Milky Tofu with Spicy Garlic Sauce (S$16.80) and Pomelo Salad with Osmanthus Dressing (S$10.90).
