29Rooms took over Instagram when it first launched three years ago in New York, flooding our feeds with snaps of whimsical, abstract and interactive art installations. The immersive world of 29Rooms has finally reached our shores, featuring new collaborations with both award-winning global artists like Billie Eilish and local artists Steph T.
The giant art exhibition has 29 spaces to explore and take pictures to the theme of ‘Lost and Found’, where you can rediscover yourself or stimulate thought-provoking conversations. The rooms and spaces are designed as a multi-sensory spaces to take you into another reality.
The Lost And Found Forest draws you into 29Rooms with its inviting scents of bergamot and sandalwood, where answers are questioned to begin the journey of self-discovery. And yes, there’s 29 questions if you’re counting!
Shake things up at the Monkey Shoulder Room and attempt snagging a cocktail in the windchamber, or relive your childhood at Dora’s Diary by journaling your thoughts in The Library Of Journals. Prompts are given to facilitate the journaling, and you can read the other entries before returning the notebook to the display wall.
The Billie Eilish Room is a physical interpretation of the singer’s newly launched perfume in a glitzy yet warm curtains of fog. Then channel your inner pop star at the 360 photo booth, or Share The Epic with your very own travel vlog through Vietnam, Korea and Thailand. We’ll leave you to see how you can visit the Philippines or Indonesia without stepping foot onto a plane.
Write a postcard to yourself or a loved one at Long-Lost-Friend and mail it at the makeshift Singpost letterbox. The letters will then be mailed to you a year later as a mini-time capsule from your time at 29Rooms. On the weekends, there will also be live sketching of caricatures at the post office.
Nice To Meet You is a playground that also doubles up a café where you can meet strangers over a cup of coffee, and is next to the merchandise area by Singapore Fashion Council. Design your own tshirt with exclusive patches and hang them up to Flag Your Goals, a sight instantly recognisable to those who grew up in HDB estates.
The XRoom will launch exclusively to the Singapore event in collaboration with Tiger Beer, a creative hub where local music acts and DJs can unleash their creative expression. When there aren’t any performances, the space will also host workshops and silent disco. End your journey with a pint of draft beer and bar bites!
