Blue Lotus unveils its new Blue Lotus Experience Menu
CONTENT: Yiew Kai Jie
Popular for it’s oriental offerings, Blue Lotus has recently come up with a special menu that will allow their customers and fans to try the food from their other outlets at any of their restaurants! This menu will allow customers to experience a small amount of the vast diversity of food that Blue Lotus is serving up at their various restaurants without having to visit each of their restaurants on separate occasions!
Here are some menu highlights:
From Blue Lotus Chinese Eating House:
Lemongrass Prawn Sticks with Citrus Spicy Dressing– The prawn balls themselves contain very generous portions of prawn in the lemongrass prawn sticks that can be seen when the balls are being sliced open! The filling of the balls has a very strong lemongrass scent and gets mildly stronger the closer you get to the lemongrass stick in the middle of the ball. Don’t forget to dip the meat in the spicy sauce for an extra sweet and spicy oomph that will definitely remind you of a traditional Thai spicy sauce.
Crispy Fried Giant Prawn Wontons with Sweet and Sour Sauce – What more could you ask for then a giant prawn wonton? The filling was nicely seasoned while the wonton itself had a balanced ratio of dough and filling that doesn’t overwhelm the palate with too much of either key ingredient.
Blue Lotus Signature Chilli Pomelo Crab – Being the main star of the menu, Blue Lotus only uses Sri-Lankan crabs that tends to be bigger and sweeter as compared to its other crab counterparts. The main reason being that the sweetness of the crab blends well with the restaurant’s signature chilli pomelo sauce that makes the dish look more wholesome! Just imagine having an awesome tasting sauce yet having a rather small amount of crab or protein to dip it in, it just doesn’t add to the harmony or balance of the dish.
The sauce itself is finger licking delicious, it’s not extremely spicy nor excessively sweet and the pomelo helps to add some bite and texture to the sauce. No crab dish is complete without the customary Mantou buns, so you can order a few of these heavenly buns to dip in the sauce or clean the bowl with them. Either way, you’re in for a great time with your friends and family when you order this dish!
From Blue Lotus Chinese Grill House:
Hickory Smoked Honey-Glazed Kurobuta Pork Ribs- The ribs are cooked with a secret cooking method that makes the texture of the pork extremely soft and tender to the point that it melts in your mouth with the first bite! The ribs themselves are gently grilled with smoke that leaves a sweet-smoky aftertaste on the palate after the meat goes down the gullet- just don’t forget to pick the bone clean!
Barramundi Fish Paste Noodles in a Hot and Sour Consomme– This dish is extremely meticulous to make as each strand needs to be individually filled with the fish paste by hand. This results in the noodles having a very consistent springy and soft touch to them that doesn’t have an overwhelming fishy flavour. While the noodles were delicious, the consomme was rather lacking in flavour as it tasted rather mild and would only be of benefit to customers who are looking for a light meal.
Crab Ball Mini Burgers with Signature Chilli Pomelo Sauce– Incorporating the same chilli sauce that is being used to douse their chilli crab with, the mini burgers are a definite must order on the menu that serves as a smaller alternative to their signature crab dish. Instead of normal buns, they have used crispy mantou buns to cover the crab patties and the patties themselves are freshly made on a daily basis- try them out for yourself to find out, it does not taste frozen and there was no sign of freezer burn in the patties themselves. It might be a little hard to eat them as they are rather precariously put together, but then again don’t expect this burger to be eaten without getting your hands dirty- immerse the burger in the sauce and enjoy the combination of flavours that erupts in your mouth.
From Blue Lotus Kitchen+Bar
Seafood Marinara Pita Pizza– A thin crusted pizza that is generously adorned with seafood and tomatoes, this pizza is a great dish to order when it comes to the love with your friends and family! The thin crust ensures that you won’t be tasting more of the dough then the ingredients themselves and perfectly balances the flavour profile of the pizza.
Tiger Prawns Red Risotto – One of the signature dishes of Blue Lotus’s first western themed restaurant, their risotto still retained its rich flavour and tasted just exactly how it did as it previously tasted at their opening last year! The creamy rice is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, a creamy, mildly spicy finish awaits when the rice is combined with the generous amounts of tiger prawns in the dish!
The new signature experience menu is now available at respective Blue Lotus outlets.
