A guide to this week’s newest restaurant/bar openings

With the numerous restaurants and bars opening up in Singapore, you might find it hard to answer when you are asked “Where are we having Lunch or Dinner today?” Sometimes i find it hard to answer as well.
This list isn’t meant to be a list of the city’s best restaurants but a list of Singapore’s newest openings, new menu launch and maybe some interesting limited time promotions.
So here’s some places you might want to visit this week.
Gary’s
Savour a romantic dinner nestled within Rochester Park — this December, contemporary Italian restaurant Gary’s has revamped their Wine Lounge, an intimate alcove on the first floor that is perfect for year-end private gatherings.
The wine list here features over 80 Italian labels from Veneto, Piedmont to Tuscany, with entry level bottles starting from an affordable $60. Look forward to labels like Gaja & Rey Chardonnay Langhe Doc and Bolgheri Sassicaia among others.
Helmed by Chef Gary Wu, who has over 30 years of culinary experience under his belt and was previously private chef to the Royal Family of Brunei, the restaurant is offering a delectable Christmas brunch ($88++/pax, minimum two to dine) featuring fresh Japanese oysters on ice and creamy Burrata with Parma Ham, and a choice of Truffle Egg Omelette or Truffle Scrambled Egg. Don’t miss out on Gary’s signature Seafood Pasta, filled with prawns, mussels, clams, and squid as well as the wagyu beef cheek pasta, braised for 12 hours till tender.
For mains, enjoy the Catch of the Day, served with seasonal vegetables and a spicy seafood sauce, the herb marinated Pork Tomahawk with a garlic sauce or the MBS 7 Striploin accompanied by mushroom ragu, endives, potato stack and drizzled with veal jus.
For dessert, end on a sweet note with the Dessert Platter featuring Gary’s Signature Tiramisu, Pistachio Nougat Parfait and Panna Cotta. Add on S$50++/pax for 2 hours of free flow Prosecco.
Gary’s also has a regular Sunday Brunch at S$88++/pax inclusive of free flow eggs of choice, a pasta tossed in a decadent cheese wheel and more!
For Christmas celebrations, head down for an indulgent 7-Course Christmas Dinner (S$198++/pax) — featuring the likes of fresh Hokkaido scallops, Alaskan King Crab and tender Arita Wagyu; exclusively available on 24th and 25th December 2022, only for dinner. Enjoy a flight of exquisite wines with an optional wine pairing at an additional S$88++ per pax.

Swensen’s
Indulge in a nostalgic year-end feast with Swensen’s for your year-end gathering with loved ones. From savouries like the Seafood Platter and Lamb Shank Shakshouka, to delightful Yule Logs and Swensen’s iconic sundaes, there’s something for everyone!
Going for a gathering? Opt for the Meat Platter or Seafood Platter, with the former consisting of braised beef cheeks, grilled chicken breasts and chicken sausages, served with sides of steak cut fries, hickory BBQ baked beans, grilled tomato, corn cobs, grilled capsicum and tangy mustard sauce; while the latter has sea bass fillets, salmon fillets, succulent king prawns and scallops along with steak cut fries, grilled tomato and corn cob. Both are available for dine-in, delivery platforms and home delivery.
Not feeling like meat? There’s the Impossible Shepherd’s Pie, hearty and vegetarian-friendly, filled with Impossible meat and creamy mashed potatoes, and covered with parmesan cheese.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Swensen’s meal without their iconic sundaes! Try the all-new flavours: Biscoff Cheesecake), More S’mores Tiramisu (Non-alcoholic) or if you are indecisive, Claus is Comin’, a combination of the former three! There is also Turkey Crackles, an indulgent combination of Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice cream, crunchy coco rice pops drenched in cold fudge, and a hefty ‘turkey drum’ – made from iconic Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice cream.
Savour the Christmas spirit with ice-cream cakes and log cakes, too! There’s the Merry Giftmas (1kg), made with the crowd-favourite Sticky Chewy Chocolate Ice Cream. Or the Enchanted Holiday (1kg), crafted with Black Forest Ice Cream and Chocolate Ice Cream with dark cherries on top. For something different there’s the Winter Sonata (1kg), a premium cake made with the all-new Hokkaido Snow with Honeycomb Bits Ice Cream that offers a delightfully milky aroma with a refreshing and sweet aftertaste with crunchy honeycomb bits.

Tim Ho Wan
This end of year, savour a slew of all-new handcrafted dim sum delights from Hong Kong chain Tim Ho Wan, that will offer a breath of freshness alongside the usual festive suspects.
The lineup consists of familiar favourites made with premium ingredients: think Canadian Scallop & Shrimp Fried Pancake , where a crisp beancurd skin pancake sandwiches fresh Canadian scallops and shrimp fillings, served with worcestershire sauce for a hit of tangy flavour. Or the adorable Truffle Mushroom Buns with Abalone, Razor Clams & Chicken that are shaped just like real shiitake mushrooms. Filled with five different types of minced mushroom and cooked in truffle paste before being sweetened with razor clams and abalone, this steamed delight offers a delicious earthy flavour. There is also the fragrant Sakura Ebi Shrimp & Scallion Rice Rolls, where silky-smooth Hong Kong-style rice rolls are topped with crisp, umami Sakura ebi for extra texture and flavour.
Tim Ho Wan’s special menu is available for a limited time only from now till to early January 2023, at all Tim Ho Wan outlets, excluding Nomstar.
Meow BBQ
Celebrate the festive season with a limited edition meat platter and exclusive Gachapon prizes at Meow Barbecue!

Globally renowned brunch chain Eggslut has opened its second Singapore outlet in Suntec City, on December 1! Offering their signature egg-focused menu and specialty coffees to the CBD crowd, guests at the new Eggslut will also be able to receive outlet exclusives.

Casual-chic steakhouse Les Bouchons is offering exclusive set menus for the holiday season. From 15 November to 31 December 2022, look forward to an indulgent 3-course festive menu for value-for-money yet chic classics — perfect for dates with your partner or intimate gatherings!
Known for their steak frites, Les Bouchons is presenting an exclusive 3-Course Festive Menu (S$76) just for the holiday season. Created by Executive Chef Mickaël Cornac, this menu will be available at the popular Ann Siang Road and Robertson Quay outlets, as well as the newest Rochester outlet.
To start, diners may pick from four moreish options, including the traditional Homemade French Onion Soup topped with Emmental Cheese Croutons. For something a little more indulgent, go for the Pan Seared Foie-Gras with Toast and Onion Chutney.
Following that are the plats, which come with Les Bouchons’ mixed salad, free-flow twice-cooked homemade fries, and homemade sauces such as béarnaise, Dijon mustard, wholegrain mustard, and mayonnaise. For an extra treat, 50g pan-seared foie-gras is available as an add-on.
Take your pick from the four plats: Grilled Beef Wagyu Oyster Blade MB6/7, Grilled Australian Lamb Chop with Provence Herbs, Grilled Whole French Duck Breast (350g), or the Jumbo Prawns grilled with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Complete the experience with either the Château de Saint Martin Côtes de Provence Cru Classé “Eternelle Favorite” Rosé 2020 or Château Haut Bertinerie Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux 2018 – the former an elegant, light-bodied rosé with notes of watermelon and pink grapefruit; the latter with medium-bodied with notes of juicy tannins and aromas of blackberry, raspberry and cherry.
Finish off the meal with a delightful dessert: from the luscious Homemade Valrhona Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream, or My Christmas Tree, made with coconut mousse and citrus mint, with custom-made ‘Les Bouchons’ and ‘Merry Christmas’ chocolates on each side of the ‘tree’. Cheese lovers can also have the Homemade Truffle Brie with Mascarpone and Truffle Pate.
Enjoy a Christmassy cocktail alongside the pleasant desserts for a finishing touch to the fulfilling meal, and for the extra festive vibes!
Try the tropical, tangy Xmas Breeze, made with Malibu Rum, fresh lime juice, blackcurrant syrup and soda water; or the chocolatey Let It Snow, made with Baileys, Milo, milk froth and marshmallows.
