Hot! Marques De Casa Concha Launches Two Two New Limited Edition Wines

Marques De Casa Concha

As part of the Marques de Casa Concha portfolio, Viña Concha y Toro has launched two new limited edition wines. Crafted with grapes from the Biobío valley, one of Chile’s southernmost winegrowing zones, both of these 2016-vintage wines are fresh and elegant, with balanced acidity.

Present in the Bío-Bío Valley for several years now, Concha y Toro is getting very good results with cold climate varieties. For that very reason, in 2016 Marcelo Papa proposed vinifying a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir with grapes grown in the Quitralmán Vineyard, in Mulchén zone, on the southern banks of the Bío-Bío River.

The Bío-Bío Valley is situated 530 km south of Santiago and has a cold climate influenced by the cool breezes that blow down from the Andes Mountains resulting in a notable daytime-night time temperature oscillation. The valley’s red clay soils are volcanic in origin.

“The Chardonnay has a style that combines richness and elegance, with delicate white pear aromas and a tremendously concentrated palate with good vitality, great structure, and oily notes,” comments winemaker Marcelo Papa. The wine was fermented in French oak barrels, where it also spent 12 months aging.

Regarding the Pinot Noir, Papa says: “It presents concentrated raspberry aromas, with a refined texture and good structure on the palate”. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks then spent 11 months aging in French oak barrels.

The Two New Limited Editon Wines
The launch of these two new wines reaffirms Marques de Casa Concha’s innovative spirit and its commitment to offering a dynamic portfolio of wines that fully represents Chile’s diversity.

Each Marques de Casa Concha wine comes from vineyards of specific origin, where the complex relationships with nature, the way a vineyard is set out and the years the vines have taken to enrich their grapes, give every variety in the range a unique personality.
