Chinese New Year 2022: Must-Try Luxurious Lunar New Year Pen Cai

As we get ready for our reunion dinner, plan our visits to our relatives and friends or just feasting with your loved ones, we’ve rounded up the best Pen Cai ( Poon Choi) for you to enjoy for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
1. Soup Restaurant Wellness Collagen Treasure Pot with Abalone
Soup Restaurant’s Wellness Collagen Treasure Pot with Abalone (from S$308) is one of our favourites for this year and highly recommended for you to try this Lunar New Year!
Each pot is filled with luxurious ingredients such as 10-head abalone, fresh tiger prawns, fish maw, premium sea cucumber, fresh scallops, shiitake mushrooms, roast pork and more is immersed in a lip-smacking collagen-rich pumpkin broth. The cabbage is cooked till soft and infused with the rich flavours of the various ingredients. All the ingredients are slow cooked for four hours in the collagen rich broth and is lightly seasoned with herbs, resulting in a good balance of flavours and lingering aftertaste.
2. Yunnans Prosperity Treasure Hot Pot
Yunnans Prosperity Treasure Hot Pot (from S$298) is stewed for six hours, the golden broth base is made with a medley of Jinhua ham, old hens, chicken feet, pork bones, lean pork, pork trotters, dried scallops and carrots of which the natural essences of the ingredients are extracted. Each pot are filled with roast pork belly, wild golden fungus from Yunnan, sea cucumber, abalone, scallops, prawns, mushrooms, fish maw, cordyceps flowers, yam and Chinese cabbage.
3. Kam’s Roast Prosperity Treasure Pot
By popular demand, Kam’s Roast’s Popular Prosperity Treasure Pot (from S$268) is back this year. This treasure pot is a collaboration between two big restaurant names: Kam’s Roast and Teochew restaurant Huat Kee, well known for its Teochew braised dishes, shark’s fin and abalone.
Kam’s Roast’s famous crispy roast pork is paired with Huat Kee’s seafood delicacies such as fried and dried fish maws and Australian abalone. Other ingredients include chestnut, shiitake mushroom, XL dried oyster and premium black moss. They come together in a premium broth that is flavourful with just the right note of saltiness.
4. Blossom Auspicious Treasure Pot
Available for dine-in or takeaway, Blossom at Marina Bay Sands auspicious treasure pot is a trove of premium-grade delicacies, symbolising layers of blessings and an abundance of food, wealth and prosperity for the New Year.

5. RE&S Japanese Treasure Pot
Available at Ichiban Boshi, Ichiban Sushi and Kuriya Japanese Market, RE&S Japanese Treasure Pot (S$199) superior stock is boiled for hours using fresh ingredients and features seasonal ingredients such as whole abalone, sashimi-grade scallops from Hokkaido, snow crab leg meat and prawn. Homemade Japanese chashu, homemade chicken roulade with cabbage and spinach, kamaboko fish cake and shiitake mushroom round out the line-up. Gold leaves add a touch of sophistication.

Bring home White Restaurant’s Treasure Pot Pen Cai (S$238) which is meticulously prepared with the best ingredients of Korean dried oysters, Tian Bai mushrooms, fatt choy, fish maw, abalone, prawns, sea cucumber, pork knuckles, duck wings and duck web for a pot that bursts with flavours. It is further sweetened with fresh beancurd sheet, yam, white radish, Chinese cabbage and fatt choy meatballs. They are all carefully stewed to immense tenderness and sweetness over long hours under the watchful eyes of their chefs.
