This Lunar New Year, savour an array of delectable Chinese dishes given a modern twist at Chopsuey Cafe. Tucked away at the end of Dempsey Hill, Chopsuey Cafe’s spacious monochrome interiors and rattan chairs paired with marble-top tables remind one of colonial-style bungalows; indeed keeping in line with their Anglo-Chinese influenced dining concept. Chopsuey Cafe is offering three exclusive Lunar New Year Set Menus along with a luscious Lucky Lunar Lo Hei, this auspicious season. These menus are specially curated for groups of various sizes, so you can celebrate with loved ones regardless: 2-4 people at S$48++ per pax, 4-6 people at S$68++ per pax and 6-8 people at S$88++ per pax.

Each menu comes with Iced Pink Longan Tea – a modern take on the traditional brewed longan and red date tea. A pretty burnished orange shade, you can choose to have your sweetened with the syrup on the side, or leave it as it is to taste the fragrance of the longan and wolfberries.

Of course, what is a Lunar New Year’s meal without yusheng? Toss to prosperity and a good year ahead with the Chopsuey Lucky Lunar Lo Hei. This wholesome take on the traditional yusheng features ingredients such as trout, kale, sprouts, red radish, blueberries and wild rice, along with a refreshing citrus sauce. We enjoyed the fresh slices of trout that paired well with the sweetness of pomegranate seeds and blueberries, and the fresh crunch of the radish slices.

Next, savour the starters: we thoroughly enjoyed the fragrant Salt & Vinegar Beancurd Crisps which were delightfully crispy and so very addictive. Or, go for the Chopsuey Oyster Shooters if you’re a seafood-lover!

Five Spice Duck

For the mains, pick from a variety of options that include the melt-in-your-mouth Charsiu Kurobuta Belly, and tangy Golden Pineapple Sea Prawns, or the fragrant Sticky 5-Spice Smoked Duck Breast. Standout mains that we enjoyed were the hearty Luxury Melting Beef Cheek that was so tender it fell apart with a mere pull of our chopsticks, as well as the Shaoxing Paper Chicken with a savoury broth we wanted to drink up every drop of.

Lobster Fried Rice

Then, take your pick of either Lobster Fried Rice or Kung Pow Chicken Spaghetti for the carbs section of the menu. We enjoyed the former for the liberal chunks of lobster scattered throughout the rice, along with the luscious perfume of wokhei that permeated every bite.

End off your meal with a heart and tummy-warming bowl of Hot Ginger Dumpling Tea – steaming-hot and ginger-warm, with a lovely sesame-filled dumpling.

Of course, if you’d like a bit of alcohol to go with your meal, you can choose to add on a bottle of Santa Margherita Prosecco Brut DOCG for S$45++.

Chopsuey Cafe’s Lunar New Year Set Menus are available for dine-in or take-away from 29th January to 26th February 2021. The pricing is as follows: 2-4 people at S$48++ per pax, 4-6 people at S$68++ per pax and 6-8 people at S$88++ per pax.
