Renowned Japanese restaurant IPPUDO has recently opened its eighth outlet at Raffles City, complete with a menu of outlet-exclusive items along with their famed ramen. Specially curated for Singaporean taste buds, this Raffles City-exclusive menu is a fusion of Japanese and local influences – expect flavours like salted egg, cheese, even mantou-esque buns!

Settle down and take your pick from their wide range of sake – we enjoyed the refreshing and lightly fruity Chiyomusubi Sorah Sparkling Sake. IPPUDO also offers the premium Dassai 45 Junmai Daiginjo Sake, as well as Japanese-style cocktails such as the Shochu Sour.

For appetisers, do try the Shaka Shaka Fries – crisp, shoestring fries covered in an addictive salted egg yolk powder that will have you reaching for fry after fry. Give them a good shake in the bag provided (always a fun little task) and you’re good to go!

Homemade Pumpkin Salad

Or, go for the Homemade Pumpkin Salad if you’d like something a little lighter to start off. A pretty honey-coloured mountain that contains a mix of lightly-sweet and creamy pumpkin, diced cucumber, bacon and Japanese mayonnaise, topped off with slivers of almonds; this is a twist on the traditional potato salad, and one we’ll gladly have more servings of.

If you’re craving rice, not to worry: IPPUDO has also introduced the Teppan Rice, served on a sizzling hot plate. A tasty mix of meat (pick from pork slices or wagyu beef), red and yellow peppers, corn, and topped off with crispy bits of deep-fried IPPUDO ramen noodles for added crunch; this dish is further elevated with the addition of a savoury cheese “lava” sauce.

Grilled Wagyu Teppan Rice

Of course, the highlight here at IPPUDO is their signature ramen! We enjoyed the Akamaru Shinaji, named for the red miso paste added to the tonkotsu broth, along with a dash of fragrant black garlic oil. Served with Hakata-style ramen noodles, pork belly chashu slices and crunchy curls of black fungus, it was a hearty, savoury bowl that warmed the stomach. Spice-lovers would enjoy the Karaka-men, where a fiery chili paste made with Sichuan peppers is added to the ramen.

Akamaru Special

Still have space for more? Order the Salmon Katsu Buns or Veggie Buns to share! We especially enjoyed the fluffy softness of the buns, making them the perfect vehicles for the crispy panko-coated salmon katsu, or the moresome potato croquette in the Veggie Bun. The buns are served with three different types of sauces: the IPPUDO Original Homemade Savoury Sauce, Spicy Chili Sauce, and Japanese Mayonnaise. Customise your buns, mix and match flavours, go wild!

IPPUDO Raffles City has launched an exclusive three-course lunch set from 14 August to 13 September 2020, priced at S$15.90: including one ramen, one side and one drink. The ramen choices include IPPUDO’s signature Akamaru and Shiromaru, Veggie Dashi and Chicken Shoyu ramen. Pair them with sides such as the IPPUDO Gyoza, Chicken Karaage, IPPUDO Pork Bun, or Mini Green Salad. This promotion is only valid at IPPUDO Raffles City, on weekdays from 11am to 5pm.
