After almost 2 years of muted Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, the festivities goes all out this year with the further easing of community measures, its time where we gather our friends and families for mooncakes to celebrate this festival.
This year, many brands have come up with new unique and interesting flavours for Singaporeans to indulge in, including a new brand which makes its debut this year.
Here, we have gathered the best traditional and snowskin mooncakes for you and your family to enjoy.
Yanxi Dim Sum & Hotpot
Singapore’s popular dining destination Yanxi Dim Sum & Hotpot unveils its mooncake for the very first time this year. Executive Dimsum Chef Ben Yapp has curated five elegant handcrafted Snow Skin mooncakes, Low Sugar Pandan with Egg Yolk and Sunflower Seeds, Rose Lotus Seed Paste with Melon Seeds, Ginseng Chrysanthemum with Pumpkin Seeds, Low Sugar White Lotus Seed Paste with Macadamia Nuts ad Lychee Champagne Chocolate with Melon Seeds.
Each of the five elements mooncake collection (S$118 per box of 5) is encased in beautiful gift boxes created in collaboration with NoonTalk artiste Kimberly Chia, each boxes represents the five fundamental elements of the universe – Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.
What we liked the most:
Considering it is Yanxi’s first year to offer mooncakes, we were quite surprised with the quality and taste of each of their offerings including the baked series. But what we loved most is the Lychee Champagne Chocolate with Melon Seeds which has a perfect combination of champagne and fresh lychee which is very refreshing. We also loved the Low Sugar White Lotus Seed Paste with Macadamia Nuts which is perfect for those who are watching their weight, the taste is just right being not too sweet but it still retains the richness of the lotus seed paste. Their baked mooncakes are also equally good so you might want to try it as well.

What we liked the most:
Staying true to Hua Ting’s heritage and well-known classics, we enjoyed their White Lotus Paste with Macadamia Nuts (Low Sugar) which is perfect for gifting and sharing with elderly family members while staying healthy. Not forgetting the White Lotus Paste with Double Yolk and Macadamia Nuts, the richness of the two yolks has enriched the delicious treat.

Cherry Garden at Mandarin Oriental is known for their traditional baked mooncake, delighting with lotus paste mooncakes and launching new snowskin mooncake flavours to excite your palate this year are two locally inspired traditional mooncakes, a refreshing Chestnut with Taro Coconut, and a fruity-fragrant pairing with Hongyu Black Tea Lotus with with Pomelo, Citrus Peel and Pumpkin Seed. Also joining the new lineup on the snowskin end is the rich Black Sesame with Roasted Walnut Snowskin, a healthier choice of Lemon Genmaicha, and a tangy addition of Tangerine with Melon Seed Snowskin Mooncake.
What we liked the most:
You can’t go wrong with the classic lotus paste baked mooncake, and we loved the Low Sugar Silver Lotus Paste with Double Yolk Mooncake as the velvety filling wasn’t too sweet, yet still flavorful enough to satisfy my tastebuds. Simple, classic, and timeless – just like the Oriental box the mooncakes are delivered in. The two-tiered box comes with an additional tea tray, which makes for a gorgeous addition to the coffee table to store candies and small snacks.

Bread Garden
The home-grown bakery is back with an incredible lineup of mooncakes, so many caught our eye that we don’t even know where to start! The highlight of their signature traditional is the Triple Layer Tripler Yolk Mooncake collection set, which is always sold out pretty quickly, and they also have a selection of exciting flavour combinations in their Snowy Skin Grandeur Set, with snowskin mooncakes filled with the likes of hazelnut chocolate, yuzu mango, and lychee Roselia.
What we liked the most:
Hands-down, it goes to the Golden Royale Mooncake, which is a traditional mooncake with a little twist that swaps out the lotus paste for a creamy custard filling and a salted egg yolk core. Durian lovers can give the Mao Shan Wang snowskin mooncake a try, which comes filled with pungent, fleshy durian filling for an indulgent time.
And since we like to ask all our friends to join, all of Bread Garden’s bakes are halal so invite your Muslim friends to join in the festivities!
