REVIEW: Covermark Mineral Wash and Treatment Cleansing Milk

As someone who has struggled with eczema all my life, finding the right cleanser and facial wash that are ideal for my sensitive skin is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack—it’s difficult. I have tried a lot of western brands—some of them touted by celebrities as “the best”—but my skin often felt clogged and dry after a few weeks. After consulting with my dermatologist, I realised that they might be too strong for a delicate Asian skin like mine.

For years, I have religiously used my dermatologist’s prescribed brands, until recently i chance upon Covermark’s Mineral Wash and Treatment Cleansing Milk. I was hesitant at first, especially since I didn’t know how my skin would react. But I did my research and found out that it’s one of the leading Japanese foundation and skincare brands established by beauty expert Lyndia O’leary in 1928. Though she founded the brand in New York, she brought the brand to Japan in 1960 and has since applied the country’s technology and expertise in producing beauty products made for sensitive skin.

That said, I tried the cleanser and facial wash for a week; here’s what I’ve discovered.

Treatment Cleansing Milk S$55 (200G)
This cleanser also acts as a very effective makeup remover, thanks to its plethora of ingredients such as citrulline, jojoba oil and MC Chitosan. The latter is one of the most important ingredients that offers twice the moisturising effect as the hyaluronic acid.

I only needed a few pumps of the cleansing milk to get ride of makeup and dirt after a long day. And what I really liked about this product was it didn’t strip my face of its natural oils. After I gently lathered it on my eyes and cheeks (where I often apply the most makeup), I washed it off with cold water and my visage felt extremely soft and supple. I even checked its effectivity by wiping my face with makeup remover wipes, and voilà—there were no traces of foundation at all.

With Singapore’s hot and humid weather all year round, we’re all in dire need of a facial wash that can effectively clean our skin. Enter Covermark’s mineral facial wash, containing all-natural ingredients such as Moroccan mineral clay, licorice, marine collagen and herb extracts.

The wash had a heavier texture than my normal cleanser but when I applied it on my face, it was soft and gentle on the skin. I even felt like I was having a professional facial treatment with the addition of the Moroccan mineral clay. It also helped that it came with a sponge for an even deeper cleanse that got rid of other impurities such as blackheads and whiteheads. After a few days, my pores didn’t look so enlarged anymore and my dry skin looked younger and moisturised.

With a few more weeks of using the cleansing milk and mineral wash, I’m hoping to achieve a more radiant and flawless skin.
