The Ten Commandments of EDC Las Vegas 2022

I’ve been to numerous music festivals here in Asia and it’s my first time flying from Asia to USA to attend a music festival.

From 20-22 May 2022, over 400,000 music enthusiasts from all over the world, including myself went to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to experience one of the world’s best music festivals – Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas!

Organised by Insomniac events, America’s leading electronic music / event promoter, this year’s sold out event took over the entire speedway and hosted 9 stages with around 300 artists each performing a myriad of music genres.

Here are the 10 commandments we deemed suitable for EDC Las Vegas 2022

1. Thou Shall Be Prepared to Brave the Traffic Jam
Most visitors like me or even Americans would more likely to stay in the Las Vegas strip for the reason of you having more selections of where to eat and where to stay. After all, you need to have a good night rest and fill your tummy before and after attending the festival.

The first night, I took a ride with my friend and we were stuck in the traffic for almost 1.5hrs, all the cars were slowly moving and I can hear some cars turning out their music to kick-start their own pre-festival party even before we reach the venue. If you’re planning to catch a specific act, better buffer the traffic and leave earlier as you still need to find a parking slot upon reaching the site.

2. Thou Shall Purchase Shuttle Pass
Do you just want to hop on a shuttle, sit back and relax without worrying about traffic and finding a parking? EDC provides a shuttle to conveniently send you to the speedway in a faster route.

Available with you choice of either Standard or Premier Shuttle, every shuttle pass holders enjoy a 3-day round-trip transportation between EDC Las Vegas and selected shuttle stop, on- & off-site EDC Las Vegas Shuttle Support Team dedicated to all EDC Shuttle riders and what’s more, you get an expedited entry to the festival as security pre-check is done prior to you boarding the shuttle!

While three-day Standard Shuttle Pass includes continuous departures to the festival from 6:00 pm–11:30 pm and continuous returns from 3:00 am concluding 1 hour after the music ends, a three-day Premier Shuttle Pass holders are able to reserve specific shuttle time to and from the festival as well as an exclusive EDC merchandise to each shuttle pass holder. I do highly recommend you to purchase a shuttle pass for ease of convenience.

3. Thou Shall Work on your Endurance
Did you pack all your needed items such as your money, cards, earplugs, portable battery pack and hydration pack to keep you quenched the entire night? As the venue is quite far, you won’t enjoy the festival if you miss any of your needed items.

Also happening during the EDC week are numerous pool parties held at various pool clubs during day time and parties at night held at various nightclubs featuring your favourite DJ’s. Plan your schedule and just make sure you are well rested for EDC.

4. Thou Shall Remember the Nine EDC Stages
As huge as the venue are the amazing nine stages – Kinetic Field considered also the main stage and heart of EDC, this is where attendees will gather for some of the biggest acts, in the words of EDC, “this is a temple of sacred sounds, the open arms of mother Gaia, the epicenter of universal love, and the embodiment of movement and energy”.

Cosmic Meadow is where EDC’s opening ceremony is held, some of the top names in EDM and hip-hop are also playing here.The circuitGrounds features LED walls and plumes of fire that ignite the atmosphere, producing positively charged energy felt far beyond our own perceptions. Neon Garden opens up your imagination with immersive live art cross-pollinate with cutting-edge technology and exceptionally curated deep house and techno. Headbangers are usually found at bassPOD, the proving ground of the Bassrush massive. Here, lovers of dubstep, bass house, drum & bass, and trap are united. Prepare to go hard or go home.

wasteLAND is a refuge of ravers looking to experience the blistering tempos and relentless energy of hard dance, hardcore, and all forms of hardstyle. quantumVALLEY is where the Trance Fam are, presenting the entire spectrum of the trance genre, from flowing, ethereal melodies to complex psychedelic strains. Curated by the Insomniac Music Group, stereoBLOOM offers up sounds from known artists and up-and-comers alike from dance music genre, from house to tech house to bass music and beyond. Last but not the least is this year’s newest stage, bionicJUNGLE, a stage dedicated to all genres of house music.

5. Thou Shall Remember thy Names & Dance to the Tunes
This year’s line-up featured big names and some I haven’t even heard before (partly to blame that they might not have visited Asia) Headliners featured Zedd, Illenium, Tiesto, DJ Snake, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Zhu, Kaskade, Deadmau5, Zedd’s Dead and more! Kaskade and Deadmau5 debuted new single Kx5, I also quite enjoyed David Guetta and Morten’s future rave set and i also managed to check out some artist’s that I even didn’t know they existed and it was just amazing! How I wish they would travel to Asia soon.

6. Thou Shall Be Prepared for Amazing Surprise Acts
This year’s festival performance highlight was the special appearance of rap icon Snoop Dogg during JAUZ’s performance at the StereoBLOOM stage performing his hits “The Next Episode” and “Gin and Juice” while Grimes premiered a new collab with Anyma. You just need to be at the right stage and at the right time.

7. Thou Shall Check Out the Side Attractions
One of the side attraction that caught our eye this year was the illuminated two-storey blue colourful house – Gopuff Delivery Den.

Inside are four themed rooms filled with interactive experiences such as a mini slide and activities such as photo booths, touch up areas, beauty bars, private bar, including a VIP lounge for Gopuff customers and Gopuff Fam subscribers.

8. Thou Shall Enjoy the Carnival Rides
It is my first time going to a music festival surrounded by so much carnival rides. There is the signature Ferris wheel and Giant swing which we always see on social media.

There’s also the thrilling rides which I didn’t dare to ride such as the Super shot which goes up and drops down in a flash, Freak Out, a massive pendulum swinging 360 degrees and there’s this ride which I thought would be a slow ride going in circles turned out to be the opposite, I remembered holding on tightly to the handle as I felt I might fall anytime especially during the reverse, the Music Fest.

Try to enjoy all the carnival rides as much as you want without an added extra cost as it has already been included in your ticket.

9. Thou Shall Take Lots of Photos
EDC is a place where you get to enjoy wide variety of activities including taking lots of amazing photos in their various instagrammable spots such as the Daisy Lane, Downtown EDC, Pixel Forest and Flower Tower. Find your spot and take that shot.

10. Thou Shall Share the Memories to your Friends
The last day is always the most bittersweet part of any event, as they said all good things must come to an end… at least for a year. If it’s your first time visiting EDC, then you need to go back to your friends and share the amazing experience you had at EDC Las Vegas 2022!

To me, Electric Daisy Festival Las Vegas is the most organized festivals I have ever attended, everything went smooth and everyone up to the staffs and security were all very friendly and helpful. There’s always activities that will keep you occupied at EDC, I lost my friends halfway through the festival but I still managed to wander alone and enjoy the festival without feeling left out except that at Day 1 I was shivering as the winds were too cold for me.

The only thing I wish to be improved in the coming years is hopefully the data connection, and more wifi hotspots.

I am already looking forward to next year’s edition. To all those who weren’t able to make it this year, See you all again next year for EDC Las Vegas 2023!
