The Conscious Festival by Green is the New Black Goes to Hong Kong
Green Is the New Black is pleased to announce Singapore based Conscious Festival going to Hong Kong for Earth Day weekend, 20-22 April 2018 at PMQ 元創方 and in partnership with Ocean Recovery Alliance. Two new components are being released exclusively for the Hong Kong chapter.
As the first festival of its kind in Hong Kong, The Conscious Festival by Green Is the New Black (GITNB) is an event for people who want to improve the way they think, live and consume while doing more good in the world. This is a place where fun and social environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
The festival empowers individuals to take #LittleGreenSteps to #LiveMoreConsciously, through a mindful marketplace (free entry), transformational talks (ticketed) and an industry Unconference (ticketed). Bringing together the best conscious local and international brands, speakers, and change makers who are making meaningful change in their industries, the festival provides a curated platform to raise awareness around sustainable consumption and lifestyle choices, so that people can make informed decisions about the way they live.
Green Is the New Black’s mission is to empower the greater community to take positive action to leave the world in a better place and connect with ourselves, others and mother nature. During their October 2017 festival in Singapore, they featured over 25 speakers, 70 local brands, attracted over 2500 attendees and reached over 100 million people digitally.
Founder of Green Is the New Black, Stephanie Dickson, says, “We are thrilled to be bringing our Conscious Festival to Hong Kong. It’s possible to live our modern lives while positively impacting our planet and community. We want people to leave with tangible actions they can do on a daily basis, and show that sustainability is accessible in Hong Kong. Deep dive with our talks, edu-tainment activities and interactive art – and learn that going green can be fun and easy. There are power with numbers, by taking individual #LittleGreenSteps we can collectively change the world.”
Co-Founder of Green Is The New Black, Paula Miquelis, says “Hong Kong is our first chapter outside of Singapore and we wanted to do something unique, which is why we are launching our very first industry day – the UNCONFERENCE with the theme ‘Making Business Circular’. Our goal is to make Hong Kong the forefront of conversations around sustainable business, by creating a platform to share thought leadership, success and solutions to challenges. It was important for us to design an experience that fosters dialogue between both big brands and small – as there is a lot we can learn from each other especially around circular economy and communicating sustainability. There is money to be made when prioritising people and the planet, it’s how businesses will survive and thrive.”
This year in Hong Kong The Conscious Festival will be a 3-day celebration for Earth Day. With two new components exclusive to Hong Kong – the UNCONFERENCE and the Film SCREENINGS. The first day is the industry day and will focus on making businesses circular. The following two days will be dedicated to individuals and families who want to live more consciously. Together we can do more with less and reduce our collective footprint the planet.
The event welcomes professionals, individuals, families and little ones, with a variety of activities that are fun for everyone, including talks, green games, live music, dancing and interactive art where everyone can be an activist.
