Fashion Designers Chet Lo and Harris Reed Is The Standard London’s First Artists in Residence Programme

The Standard, London has announced its new Artists in Residence programme by revealing its first residents as fashion designers Chet Lo and Harris Reed.
As its two first Artists in Residence, Chet and Harris – both Central St Martins graduates and two of London’s most exciting new designers – have spent the last three months working on their debut shows* and first London Fashion Week collections, using rooms at The Standard, London as working studios.
Artists in Residence at The Standard, London has been created to invite artists from the worlds of fashion, film, music, art photography and beyond to reside within the hotel for a period of up to six months, giving them a space and platform to bring their world of work to life. Working alongside friends and partners – including Sarabande – the hotel is committed to providing a suitable platform for 3 emerging artists annually.
Elli Jafari, Managing Director for The Standard, London: “As challenging as it was, COVID-19 happened last year and one of the very shiny silver linings was the opportunity to reflect on what we could do to really become an integral part of London when it emerged again. For the last three months, ahead of their respective September Fashion Week shows, we have given Harris and Chet a home to bring their incredible talent and creativity to life. It has not only been wonderful to see them in and around the hotel as residents, but the growth they’ve both gone through over the last few months has been an extraordinary thing to be to be part of.”
Designer and Artist in Residence, Chet Lo: “I met Elli some months ago, having graduated and about to embark on my first London Fashion Week collection. At the time, like everyone, I was working from home, filling my bedroom with endless knitwear ideas and attempting to bring my first Fashion Week collection to life in a somewhat restricted space. The opportunity to set up a studio in The Standard, London was a dream come true – in fact, I’m not sure I’d even have dared to dream it. The creative platform and the support they have given me has been second to none; I also can’t not mention the fun I’ve had along the way – it really has been a ball!”
Designer and Artist in Residence, Harris Reed added: “As a designer, I’m working to create a really comfortable space for any single person to be in, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or anything else. And that’s why my studio at The Standard, London couldn’t be in a better place; we share the very same values and that the hotel and the whole family who work there have shown me so much love, it is just a truly gorgeous accepting space for all. It’s been the most incredible gift to be here, not just having a fabulous studio space to work from, but also being part of something so creative and meaningful. I’m truly forever grateful.”
