Alley on 25 at Andaz Singapore takes inspiration from the cultural aspects of the neighbouring Kampong Glam to unveil a new afternoon tea experience for guests to enjoy the tantalizing colourful sweet and savoury treats!

The restaurant has specially ordered handcrafted stands for the treats to be served that are a reflection of the spirit of the shophouses commonly seen in Kampong Glam. Fitted with swivel doors that mimick the yellow mango doors found in the hotel guestrooms, guests can get to enjoy their afternoon tea in three other colours that represent the different stories of the hotel – orange representing the aromatic curries prepared by the Malay community in Kampong Glam; aqua as the hotel is surrounded by stunning sea views; and purple for the local aubergine that can also be found in the hotel sky herb garden on level 25.

Inspired by the icons, sights and tastes of the bustling alleyways, the restaurant’s culinary team has curated a wide selection of savouries and sweets for guests to enjoy. For an appetizing start, guests should start with a ball of deliciousness with the Hainanese Chicken Arancini, coated with panko crumbs, deep-fried to golden perfection, and topped with an appetising chilli cucumber salsa for a kick of zing and heat. A local take on an Italian classic, the ball combines all the essence and flavour of a traditional plate of chicken rice into a single bite! Filled with fragrant Jasmine rice and succulent bits of chicken, the little treat will be a great start to the afternoon tea experience! The moreish Beef Rendang Tarlet spotlights the local Malay community by using beef sourced from New Zealand, slow-cooked for three hours to render it meltingly tender and flavourful and leaving it nicely seasoned and adequately spiced, balanced out with the earthy herbs.

Other savoury treats include the piquant Sambal Prawn Sandwich prepared with sustainably sourced tiger prawns, freshly-baked sourdough toast, and Avruga caviar as well as the Charcoal Fish Otah Pocket Bun and Chicken Satay Sliders.

Guests with a sweet tooth will find delicate sweet treats creatively infused with spices which are commonly found in the vast array of eateries and restaurants in the vicinity. Bite into crusty Dirty Chai Scones that are freshly baked daily that comprises of seven varieties of chai, served with tangy ginger apricot jam and clotted cream.

One of their signature desserts the Saffron Panna Cotta is studded with chunks of Granny Smith apple and made with Hokkaido milk. The sweetness of the milk combined with the saffron essence helps to elevate the overall taste of the dessert and the chunks of apple help to contain and balance out the sweetness as well. The other sweet treats include pieces of Spiced Dark Chocolate Bon Bon; Sumac Strawberry Macaron; and Cinnamon Soft Serve Ice Cream with Five-Spice Cornflake Crumble and Caramalised Biscuit Drizzle– a decadent treat for the ultimate sweet treat lover.

Guests can relax and complete the experience with a free flow of freshly brewed coffee, artisanal TWG Tea as well as the comforting local beverage, Teh Halia, pulled black tea infused with sugar and condensed milk. Guests can also indulge in a boozy afternoon tea with a glass (S$20) or bottle (S$90) of Delamotte Brut Champagne, Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne, or organic Copenhagen Sparkling Tea (5% alcohol)!

As part of the collaboration with Kampong Glam and keeping to the hotel’s commitment of support local artists, local artist Danielle Tay has completed an eye-catching wall mural on the 2nd floor that depicts the importance of the sea, paying homage to the seafarers and traders of old who contributed greatly to the development of Singapore’s trading hub as well as the bustling port of Kampong Glam. This mural also adds to the many artistic and outdoor murals the neighbourhood is known for. Guests of this afternoon tea experience can also head to homegrown leathercraft studio Crafune, which is situated a stone’s throw away from the hotel, to enjoy a 15% discount off their retail items.

The Kampong Glam Afternoon Tea experience is available at S$55 per guests and is available daily from 3pm to 5pm.

Additionally, guests who enjoy a cocktail at Bar Square next door can indulge in their happy hour from 4-6pm where all of their locally-inspired bespoke cocktails are priced at S$15! (U.P S$26)
