Having closed its restaurant for a substantial period of time for a thorough makeover, PARKROYAL on Beach Road has unveiled its fully refurbished all-day dining restaurant Ginger with a revamped à la carte buffet menu that puts local dishes in the spotlight!
The casual look and ambience of Ginger has been elevated with an extensive modernization of the facilities and aesthetics of the restaurant. Natural raw elements such as timber or stone have been incorporated into the restaurant with a nickel or brass finish. The entire walls are decked out with green botanical wallpapers and shades of blue to resemble a garden oasis- a welcome escape for a change of view or if you cannot escape to the beaches because they are fully booked out! If you have a green thumb or have some knowledge about botany, the walls are covered in local floras like ginger flowers and Simpoh Lak that have been beautifully woven into the walls.
The restaurant has spared no expense when it comes to curating the best a la carte buffet experience for their guests- with top notch ingredients and homemade sauces! The buffet menu includes a wide variety of up to 53 free-flow dishes and you may select your desired dish and portion size via their digital menu.
Highlights from their buffet menu include a starter course of prawn and fish crackers with a portion of Emping Belinjo (Indonesian-style crackers) as a tasty starter to be shared with your friends! You can also opt for the restaurant’s daily specials that include an individual portion of Kueh Pie Tee and Rojak for a local start to your buffet experience. (Note:The daily specials are subject to change.)
Moving on to the BBQ section of the menu, you can opt for some comfort food that can be found islandwide in Singapore such as satays, otahs or chicken wings or opt for more Indonesian based protein options such as Sate Lilit or BBQ Chicken Taliwang– all of which are to satisfy your meat cravings!
Having garnered a well-known reputation among local foodies for its crab and seafood buffets, the revamped Ginger has stayed true to its reputation. Diners can indulge in a heartwarming bowl of Rock Lobster Noodle Soup with a savoury broth coupled with the sweetness of the lobster, or the River Prawn Singapore Laksa with large scrumptious prawns and generous amounts of ingredients!
Focusing on the main star of the buffet- the crabs come in four different renditions, with more flavours to be introduced in the months to come. For traditionalists, the Singapore Chilli Crab with Mantou is sure to be a big hit, with the usage of large and succulent Sri Lankan crabs coupled with the sweet spicy sauce for it to be palatable for all diners! If you prefer a mala twist to your crab, the Kam Heong Crab with Spring Onions is a good alternative if you’re looking for something more aromatic and spicy. Stir-fried with a variety of spices and chillies, Ginger is one of the few restaurants left in Singapore that are cooking their crabs via this method. Other crab flavours also include the Black Pepper Crab and Salted Egg Crab. (The crab dishes are only available during the dinner buffet.)
Finish the meal with some local sweet treats with an assortment of Nyonya Kueh, Durian Pengat, Ginger’s special Ang Ku Kueh and their star dessert- the Chendol Ice Cream which entails a decadent portion of creamy gula melaka soft serve topped off with sweet corn, kidney beans and served in a fresh young coconut from Malaysia!
As part of their reopening celebrations, one adult gets to dine for free for every three paying adults until the end of November when paying with a UOB or HSBC credit/debit card.
