Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 40 Years Anniversary Exhibition

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Audemars Piguet’s iconic Royal Oak, the world’s first luxury sports timepiece, the Swiss Manufacturer from Le Brassus has put together a unique, ephemeral exhibition. The exhibition first started in New York, and has travelled to Paris, Milan, and Beijing, with its final destination in Singapore, aims to capture and illustrate how the Royal Oak evolves into the icon it is today, by interpreting the origins and modernity of Audemars Piguet.

The exhibition showcases 100 exceptional watches from the Royal Oak archives, which includes the very first Royal Oak in 1972 to the latest novelties unveiled at SIHH earlier this year. The rarely seen memorabilia dating back to the early 1970s is also featured during the exhibition.

The newly launched limited edition Royal Oak Leo Messi Chronograph case no. 10 in platinum and tantalum is displayed exclusively in Singapore and Beijing. This exquisite specimen will be auctioned off at the end of the exhibition run, wherein proceeds going to the Leo Messi Foundation. Other highlights include the Royal Oak Grande Complication which was specially created in 1998 for the founder of Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberté and the Royal Oak Concept as an avant-garde tribute to the Royal Oak’s 30 years of watchmaking revolution.

This extraordinary worldwide exhibit is to be held from 10 to 14 October 2012, 11am – 6pm, at the evocative former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. Shuttles buses will be available from the Audemars Piguet boutique at Liat Tower and Tanjong Pagar MRT (Exit B). Admission is free.
