Chopsuey Cafe celebrates the Year of The Pig with curated Lunar New Year Set Menus
From January 21st through to February 19th, Chopsuey Cafe is introducing two specially curated festive menus with a focus on light, fresh and vibrant flavours that aim to bring families and friends together during this Chinese New Year. diners can feast on Chopsuey Cafe’s Lucky Lunar Lo Hei as well as a host of exclusive CNY dishes the leafy suburbs of Dempsey Hill.
Available for dine in as well as for take away, the Chopsuey Lucky Lunar Lo Hei ($28++ for half, $48++ for full) offers a contemporary take on the traditional Yusheng replacing the typical ingredients with trout, kale, celeriac, sprouts, red radish, blueberries and wild rice. A special homemade dressing perfectly balances sweet with sour, combining fresh calamansi and lemon juice, plum sauce, marmalade and Japanese vinegar.
After the rigorous tossing of the Yu Sheng and sharing well wishes with family and friends, a specially curated set menu will form the perfect backdrop to the ultimate celebration with loved ones.
The first Lunar New Year Set Menu caters to four to six people, costing $68++ per person. The six-course tasting menu starts with a refreshing Gancia Lychee Prosecco or Lychee Green Tea Shake to cleanse and refresh the palate, before festivities kick start with the Chopsuey Lucky Lunar Lo Hei. A Fresh Crab & Sweet Corn Egg Drop Soup is served next before moving on to Chargrilled King Prawn Sticks with zingy chilli lime dip. Lemongrass and Lime Poached Barramundi follows, fresh-off-the boat and simply poached in a lemongrass and ginger broth, with lots of fresh herbs. Guests can then choose from Smokey Chilli Pepper Chicken, Crispy Orange Beef or White Pepper Espresso Pork Ribs for a main course, served alongside Chef’s Wokfried Claypot Rice with traditional Chinese sausages, water chestnuts and fresh herbs. The menu concludes with Hot Ginger Root Tea with Soft Black Sesame Rice Ball.
For larger groups, a second Lunar New Year Set Menu caters to seven to ten people. Costing $88++ per person, this eight course food menu offers a host of unique dishes such as Sweet Chilli King Prawns, Jade Atlantic Halibut, Sticky Five Spiced Roast Duck and Wok Flipped Young Bamboo Shoots, alongside the Fresh Crab & Sweet Corn Egg Drop Soup, the choice of Crispy Orange Beef or White Pepper Espresso Pork Ribs.
Bespoke CNY Cocktail
To truly ring in the new year in style, the bar team have created a special cocktail called The Giggling Pig ($21++). This intricate cocktail carefully combines cognac with Cointreau liquor, before being topped with strawberry bak kwa, a highly addictive dehydrated strawberry pulp spiked with Cointreau and zesty lemon. The Giggling Pig is available at Chopsuey, JYPSY and all PS.Cafe outlets except Tiong Bahru, Paragon and Raffles City.
